Kings Mountain National Military Park
Garner Creek Backcountry Campsite

Camping is only allowed at Garner Creek Campsite.

  • A three (3) mile hike is required to access the campsite.
  • Visitors must obtain a permit (free) from the visitor center before using the site.
  • The campsite is first come first served, no reservations will be taken. Registration is required.
  • Site holds 10-12 people

The adjoining Kings Mountain State Park has a 116 site campground that is open year round. The state park offers tent, RV and group sites.

Did You Know?
African Americans played an important role in the Rev War. Many served with the British, who promised freedom and used runaway slaves to fight against the Americans. Some states offered land to free men or freedom to slaves. Five African Americans are known to have fought in the battle of Kings Mtn.
