Inaugurations- Past and Present
The staff of the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site extended a special invitation to Peanut Brigaders, campaign workers and supporters of the 1976 presidential election of Jimmy Carter, to join us on January 20, 2009 in commemoration of the inauguration of the 39th President of the United States.

Traveling Through Time: From Plains to the White House
The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site (NHS) hosted the premiere of Traveling Through Time: From Plains to the White House on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Plains High School auditorium. The movie was produced and directed by Annette Wise, Instructional Specialist, and was the culmination of over two years of filming, research, takes and re-takes at the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm.




November 3, 2009
The number of volunteers in the National Park Service has increase by over 100,000 since 1990, with more than 370 NPS areas currently using VIP’s. The VIP’s at the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site have put in their share of volunteer hours (1554) by participating in numerous activities throughout the year. The volunteers gave demonstrations at the Boyhood Farm, worked the front desk at the Plains High School and assisted in various administrative duties for the park.

Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, three years younger than her husband Jimmy, graduated from Plains High School in 1944 as class valedictorian receiving the highest grades in her class.
