About Us

Under the mission of the National Park Service, our purpose as stewards of the park is "to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations." Independence National Historical Park covers almost 54 acres in Philadelphia's Old City, and includes Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Congress Hall, Franklin Court, and other historic buildings associated with the founding of the United States. Independence also administers the Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site and Thaddeus Kosciuszko National Memorial.
