Bicentennial Events March 2014

  • March 21st & 22nd - A symposium will be held at the Auburn University Conference Center with 14 speakers presenting on historical topics and current perspectives of the War of 1812, the Creek War and the Battle of Horseshoe Bend.
  • March 27th - A commemmorative event will take place at the park begining at 10:30 AM and concluding at 12 PM CST. There will be a luminary program in the evening from 6:30 PM until 9 PM CST.
  • March 28th and 29th - The park will have living history demonstrations from 9-4 both days. A special activity booklet for children ages 5-12 will be available at the Junior Ranger tent.
  • March 28th - The play Tecumseh at Tuckabatchee will be performed by the Talisi Historical Preservation Society at 7 PM behind the park's visitor center. Attendance is free, but tickets are required and can be picked up at the park's visitor center between 9 and 4:30 begining March 1st.

Reconstructed Barricade

The Red Sticks constructed an eight foot tall barricade consisting of four to five large pine logs stacked one on top of another. This barricade stretched 400 yards across the neck of the horseshoe bend in the Tallapoosa River. More...
