West Point looking toward the West at the US Military Academy, West Point, New York
Made by Wedgwood
Commissioned as a second lieutenant upon graduating in 1915, Eisenhower embarked on a successful military career that took him to the highest officer grade possible, a Five-Star General of the Army. He was one of 59 graduates of the West Point Class of 1915 who later became generals. Throughout the remainder of his life he reflected back to his West Point days with a sense of nostalgia, as evidenced by the 1933 commemorative West Point plate, one of a set he and his wife Mamie owned.
