Pennsylvania Industrial Heritage Route
(Path of Progress)
This
500-mile route travels through nine counties of southwestern Pennsylvania
and features hundreds of sites relating to the nation’s industrial story.
Included are the Altoona Railyards, the Johnstown Flood National Memorial
and Museum, the steel mills of Johnstown, and Horseshoe Curve, a 19th
century engineering marvel built by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Also called
the Path of Progress National Heritage Tour Route.
