Free Ranger Programs
Come enjoy the final programs of the 2013 season!
Thursday, September 26
8:30pm Evening Program: "Charles Messier, Early Astronomer" Learn about the early French astronomer Charles Messier, and get a brief introduction to stargazing techniques. Program followed by a telescope viewing (weather permitting). Amphitheater, 1 hour.
Friday, September 27
3:00pm Afternoon Program: "Art for All Ages: Drawing the Dunes." Sketch the spectacular dunes, or whatever you imagine! Paper, chalk, and a short demonstration from a ranger artist provided free. Visitor Center, 30 minutes.
8:30pm Evening Program: "Explore the Milky Way." Got galaxy? Discover what we thought about the Milky Way in the past, and what we know about it today. Amphitheater, 30 minutes. Telescope viewing to follow, weather permitting. Jackets and flashlights suggested.
Saturday, September 28
7:30pm Evening Program: "The Dunes Yesterday and Today." See the diverse ways people have experienced the dunes in the past and enjoy the park today. Enjoy fun songs, historic and contemporary photos on the big screen, with real artifacts and prehistoric mammal fossils. Amphitheater, 40 minutes. Telescope viewing to follow the program, weather permitting! Jackets and flashlights suggested.
