VANCOUVER, WA: In order to help keep the public informed about upcoming projects, activities and events in this unit of the national park system, Fort Vancouver NHS is now utilizing the social networking and microblogging service Twitter.

Members of the public are encouraged to "follow" (subscribe to) the park's "tweets" (updates) for the latest news from Fort Vancouver.

The park's official username is "FtVancouverNPS" and can be accessed by anyone with a free Twitter account.

"This is a new foray for us, and just one of many ways we can keep the public updated on the exciting happenings at the fort," exclaimed Greg Shine, the site's chief ranger and historian.
