  • Bridge Repair Work

    Beginning September 15, the main bridge into the fort will be closed for repairs. Visitors will be able to access the fort through the sally port entrance. An accessible ramp will be available upon request. Visit the Willett Center for assistance on-site.

Bicycling Information

Fort Stanwix National Monument is accessible by bicycle by way of the trails along the Erie Canal National Heritage Corridor. Fort Stanwix sits a mile from the original canal site, at the center of New York, and welcomes all travelers.

The Six Nations, or Haudenosaunee, was based in what is now northern New York and was initially comprised of the Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, and Mohawk Nations.
