Join us for a nocturnal adventure into the territory of the flammulated owl to learn about the habitat requirements for this sensitive species. July 10 from 5pm – 2am at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Fee is $50. Teacher credit available. Registration required. Call 719-748-3253.

The shy, fist- sized Flammulated Owl was little known for more than a century. But the results of 25 years of study have shed light on the ecology and habitat of the sensitive owl. Participants in this field- based course will learn the natural history of the owl and join a nocturnal adventure into occupied territories of the owl to hear whispers of its territorial song and observe its nesting behaviors. More information on this and other summer seminars is available at www.nps.gov/flfo.
