Hobbies: Climbing, skiing, floating, hiking, and traveling. “My work is fun too!”

Classical and bluegrass

Life experiences that led to a career in science: “Experiencing the 1959 Hebgen Lake earthquake, working in Antarctica, rock climbing, and spending time in the Tetons and Alps, experiencing the Yellowstone wilderness. I like outdoor physics and geology which combines into fun geophysics.”

Research: How does the earth work? Why are there earthquakes and volcanoes?
