The Ecology Program at the Center for Urban Ecology (CUE) provides technical assistance on ecological issues. The National Capital Region (NCR) is ecologically distinct because of its location within 4 physiographic regions.

Consequently, CUE's Ecology Program considers a wide range of ecosystem management concerns pertaining to a variety of communities. Land use change and urban development, habitat fragmentation, biodiversity, and maintenance of ecosystem processes are areas of particular interest to CUE staff. The underlying goal of studies implemented by the Ecology Program is to preserve the integrity of NCR's biological resources.
