Scott Bates, M.S.
Wildlife Biologist
Scott Bates received a B.S. (1982)
degree in Biology from Saint Mary's College, MD and a M.S.
(1989) degree in Wildlife Management from Frostburg State
University, MD. Scott provides wildlife management information
to park managers of the National Capital Region (NCR). As
a wildlife biologist with particular interest in deer populations,
Scott uses DISTANCE sampling to conduct and analyze deer population
surveys and trends. He also collects data that examines the
impact of deer on tree regeneration and ground-nesting songbirds.
