Authentication

The CommonSpot Users database is the default data source for user and group authentication Use this dialog to optionally enable cookie-based login.

The Authentication dialog displays the following:

Permit cookie-based login: Optional. Available for CommonSpot native authentication. Enables browser-based cookie authentication for read access to CommonSpot content. This setting allows sites requiring registration to automatically log in returning users. This feature is not designed for CommonSpot contributors. Contributors changing from read to author mode when viewing cookie-authenticated pages receive a CommonSpot prompt for credentials.

Also note that automating login through this option effectively disables Logout. If Logout status is critical, leave this option unchecked. To enable cookie-based login, check this item.
