Open Year-round, everyday. Some roads may be impassable from November through April. Call the City of Rocks Visitor Center at 208-824-5901 for the latest road conditions.

Castle Rocks State Park

Ranch Unit (geological area): Open Year-round, every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., 24 hours for registered lodge and bunkhouse guests.
Smoky Mountain Campground Unit: Open Year-round, every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., 24 hours for registered campground and yurt guests.

Visitor Center

The visitor center for City of Rocks National Reserve and Castle Rocks State Park is open daily, 7 days a week, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including holidays through October 18, 2014. From October 21, 2014 through April 13, 2015, the visitor center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (closed on Sunday, Monday and legal holidays).

Throughout the West emigrants recorded their passing by writing their names (often with axle grease) at unique places like City of Rocks. Camp Rock once contained hundreds of names. But these historic records are fast disappearing.
