Ranger-guided education programs are curriculum standards-based with an emphasis on the natural and cultural resources of the park. Most programs can be given in your classroom or at the park. The programs will vary in length and can be tailored to the needs of your students.
Curriculum-based lessons are available for grades 3rd through 12th grade. Although Capulin Volcano offers several different programs, new programs are routinely created so check back for updates. To schedule a program please contact us at 575-278-2201 or e-mail us.
Grades 3-5
- I Lava Volcanoes! (Earth Science) Students learn about the four types of volcanoes, how volcanoes are formed, and the geological forces that create eruptions. Students will have the opportunity to create their own miniature eruptions to better understand how gas build up can affect a volcanic eruption.
- Every Kid Outdoors (4th Grade Only - Environmental Science) Students will be introduced to the different resources that public lands protect and why environmental stewardship is important. Every 4th grade student will receive an Every Kid Outdoors federal lands pass at the end of the program.
Grades 6-8
