Catoctin Mountain Park Announces Temporary Closures
Due to increased security measures, portions of Catoctin Mountain Park will be closed effective Saturday, August 2, 2014 at approximately 10:00 AM. Closures are scheduled to continue through Sunday, August 3, 2014 at approximately 4:00 PM.
Park Central Road is closed between the Camp Misty Mount Entrance and Camp Greentop. Reservations for Poplar Grove, Camp Misty Mount, Camp Greentop and Camp Round Meadow will be honored.
Hikers may access trails to Thurmont Vista, Wolf Rock, and Chimney Rock as well as the Falls Nature Trail from the Visitor Center Trailheads. The Catoctin National Recreation Trail will be open. Trails to Blue Ridge Summit Overlook and Hog Rock are not available during this closure. Manahan Road and trails east of Manahan Road are available for use.
Picnickers may use Chestnut Picnic Area.

Catoctin Mountain Park is one of over 400 units administered by the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. The Visitor Center is located three miles west of Thurmont, Maryland on State Route 77 and is open Friday through Sunday. Correspondence should be addressed to:

The Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock is an organization formed by fly fishermen in the late 1930’s meeting near Hunting Creek. Their mission is to promote the knowledge, skill, and love of the sport of fishing to our youth. An Indian Jungle Fowl feather, was worn as a symbol by early group members.
