Operating Hours & Seasons

Canyonlands is open year-round, 24 hours a day. Each district has its own visitor center with operating hours that change with the seasons.

Island in the Sky Visitor Center is closed for the winter.

The Island in the Sky Visitor Center is open daily, spring through fall.
Features include: exhibits, book and map sales, backcountry permits, general information, and park rangers on duty. Backcountry permits are issued up until one hour before closing. The visitor center is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and from late December through early March.

Needles Visitor Center

Needles Visitor Center is closed for the winter.

The Needles Visitor Center is open daily from early March through November. Backcountry permits are issued up to one hour before closing. The visitor center is closed Thanksgiving Day and late November through early March. Features include: exhibits, book and map sales, backcounty permits, general information, picnic area, and park rangers on duty. Water and restrooms are available year-round.

Hans Flat Ranger Station (The Maze)

The Hans Flat Ranger Station at the Maze is open daily, year-round. Features include: rangers on duty, general information, backcountry permits, a small sales area with books and maps. There are no services, food, gas, or potable water sources at the Maze.
