Operating Hours & Seasons

Cape Krusenstern National Monument is open year-round. The headquarters office and visitor information center are located at the Northwest Arctic Heritage Center in Kotzebue.

Arctic winter conditions - snow, ice, wind, and below-freezing temperatures - exist in the monument from October through April. Summer temperatures average 54° F, although some days in July may get up to 80° F. Snow or freezing temperatures may occur at any time.

Cape Krusenstern Monument has extreme seasonal variations in daylight because of its northern location. The sky remains light for three continuous months in summer, while in midwinter a diffuse light occurs for only two to three hours per day.
