Science in the Seashore Research Symposium Slated for August 23

The Cape Cod National Seashore, Atlantic Research & Learning Center (ARLC) will host the third annual "Science in the Seashore Research Symposium" at the Salt Pond Visitor Center located in Eastham, Massachusetts on Friday, August 23rd.The afternoon event will feature eight to ten presentations by scientists conducting research at Cape Cod National Seashore.Topics presented will cover a sample of applied natural resources and social science research including climate change, plant and wildlife ecology, architecture, and others. Financial support for the symposium is provided by Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore.
Goals of the ARLC include facilitating the use of parks for scientific inquiry, supporting science-informed decision making, and communicating the relevance of, and providing access to, knowledge gained through scientific research to students, educators, administrators, other scientists, and members of the public. The symposium will provide a brisk, half-day of talks with the intent of sharing science hosted by the national seashore in 2013 and to generate an engaging discussion for researchers and the public alike.
Directions to the Salt Pond Visitor Center: From Boston area: Take Route 3 south, to the Sagamore Bridge in Bourne. Follow Route 6 eastward toward Eastham and Provincetown. From Providence, RI: Take I-95 north to, I-195. Follow Route 6 eastward as described above. Once on Cape, the Salt Pond Visitor Center is located at Route 6 and Nauset Road in Eastham.
