On Monday morning, fire personnel responded to the threat of smoke coming from the Ponca Wilderness. Once on site, they discovered a low intensity fire in the leaf litter of the understory, which had burned an approximate total 4 acres. The fire was monitored while precautions were implemented to reduce the potential threat of further damage. At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown. For public safety, Sneed Creek Trail was temporarily closed Monday and Tuesday from Compton trailhead to Granny Henderson.
