Picnicking in the Park
Whether you need an area large enough for a family reunion or an intimate spot for two, you'll enjoy picnicking in the park. Picnic areas are scattered throughout Big South Fork NRRA; some provide grills, and all have tables. All picnic areas are first-come, first-served, with the exception of the shelters at Bandy Creek Campground.
Did You Know?
In the 1960's Congress requested the Army Corps of Engineers to study the feasibility of damming the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River just above the Devils Jump Rapid to create another reservoir. Had that happened Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area would never have existed.
