Resource Protection Hotline

In order to increase the number of backcountry “eyes and ears” helping protect the park's valuable and often irreplaceable resources, a Resource Protection Hotline has been established.

Any park visitor or neighbor who witnesses what they believe to be an illegal activity such as digging arrowheads, poaching wildlife or harvesting plants, is encouraged to call the Resource Protection Hotline at (423) 569 2404 ext 505.

Should you chose, you may also email this information to the park.

All information will be treated confidentially.  No name or phone number will be required; however, persons wishing to leave contact information may do so.

Devils Jump Rapid is just below the site of the proposed dam.

Did You Know?
In the 1960's Congress requested the Army Corps of Engineers to study the feasibility of damming the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River just above the Devils Jump Rapid to create another reservoir. Had that happened Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area would never have existed.
