A teachable moment after students find a ghost crab. Students participating in the NPS education programs learn about life and earth sciences through hands-on, experiencial learning opportunities.


Assateague Island National Seashore offeres free, fun, standards-based activities and programs for all grade levels. From puppet shows to plankton studies, park educators employ a variety of teaching techniques to reach the varied learning styles and age levels. All of our education programs are free and we offer entrance fee waivers to bonafide academic institutions.

We accept registrations on a first come-first served basis and will begin to accept Fall semester registration on August 19, 2013. Spring programs can be requested beginning January 13, 2014.
