Arts and Crafts during a program.
There are many ways for children and families to enjoy your National Park.
Junior Ranger
Ask at the information desk for a copy of the park Junior Ranger book for a fun guide to the story of the Allegheny Portage Railroad.

Demonstrations
In good weather there are a variety of demonstrations done by costumed park rangers. Many times the ranger needs YOUR help. It may be something simple like handing a tool when needed, or you may be put to work making rope!
Scout Programs
A program to earn the Girl Scout Brownie Listening to the Past Try It is offered to troops of any size. It generally takes two hours to complete all four elements.
The Girl Scout Junior My Heritage badge can be completed by troops of any size in a two to two and one half hour visit.
The Girl Scout Junior badges Folk Arts, Local Lore, and Earth Connections badges have been offered on request. Ask about ways the park rangers can help your troop earn these and other awards.
Senior/Cadette/Ambassador programs for My Heritage IPA and other awards can be arranged as well. Please call the park at (814) 886-6150 for more information.
