Weather

Weather in the Texas Panhandle can change quickly, so be prepared for varying temperatures and conditions. Summers are hot and dry with low humidity, and average temperatures are around 93 degrees Fahrenheit and can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Heavy rainstorms or thunderstorms may sweep across the area quickly; tornadoes, windstorms, and lightning are also possible.

Winter months are usually mild, but snowstorms, sleet, and hail can occur when winter storms move through the Rocky Mountains. Windy days are also common throughout the year, but are most common during the winter and spring. Tours to the quarry sites will be canceled during severe weather conditions.
