Winter Driving Conditions

Rim Rock Drive is OPEN. During the winter months be prepared to encounter ice and snow conditions at any time and in any location on Rim Rock Drive even when roads in the valley are clear.

Welcome to Colorado National Monument!

Colorado National Monument preserves one of the grand landscapes of the American West. But this treasure is much more than a monument. Towering monoliths exist within a vast plateau-and-canyon panorama. You can experience sheer-walled, red rock canyons along the twists and turns of Rim Rock Drive, where you may spy bighorn sheep and soaring eagles.

Camping in the Monument

Visitors are welcome to come and camp within the Monument at our Saddlehorn Campground near the Visitor Center or in the backcountry with a permit. To learn more about camping in red rock country, click here.
