Twin Rocks Trail

After crossing a bridge, the Twin Rocks trail runs alongside a stream within a riparian area. A brief stretch of boardwalk prevents hikers from trudging through mud. Walk quietly to enjoy birdsongs and perhaps glimpse some deer. Photo taken on 6/10/2024.

The Twin Rocks trail meanders up a softly ascending hill blanketed with grass. Nestled below the hill is a lush riparian zone. In the distance, storm clouds gather, swirling around an isolated patch of blue sky. Although the current trail conditions are excellent, visitors should anticipate sudden changes due to severe summer storms, which can include hail and brief periods of heavy rainfall. Current park operating hours:

  • The park is open Mondays through Saturdays, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. The park is closed on Sundays until May 26th.
  • The Barksdale Picnic area and trails are open for day use seven days a week.
  • The Hornbek Homestead area and trails are open for day use seven days a week. The Hornbek Homestead Parking Lot is open at night for night sky viewing.
  • Flush toilets are available at the Visitor Center Mondays through Saturdays from 9:00am to 4:30pm. Pit toilets are available at the Hornbek Homestead and the Barksdale Picnic area.
