Road Closures & Road Work

Current Road or Bridge Closures

Palomarin Road - Wednesday, May 15, 2024, through Wednesday, June 19, 2024

From Wednesday, May 15, 2024, through Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Palomarin Road (and Mesa Road northwest of the Commonweal entrance) will be closed weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm. This road work will repair a partial road failure that occurred due to winter storm erosion at Arroyo Hondo Creek.

Palomarin Road will be open Saturdays and Sundays and on Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day), so this closure shouldn't have any significant impact on weekend visitors. Palomarin Road will also be open from 6 am to 8 am and from 5 pm to 12 midnight on weekdays. Vehicles trying to leave the closure area from the Palomarin trailhead between 8 am and 5 pm will be allowed to, but may experience delays of up to 30 minutes.

Stop signs will be located on both sides of the work zone. The entire work zone is visible from both stop signs. After coming to a complete stop, proceed with caution when the route is clear of oncoming traffic. If there are multiple vehicles waiting to proceed, please alternate one-by-one.

Old Tocaloma/Platform Bridge Closure

As of January 13, 2020, the bridge known as the Old Tocaloma/Platform Bridge, which runs parallel to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at its intersection with Platform Bridge Road ~2 miles east of Olema, is closed to all vehicular traffic until further notice. The bridge is being closed to vehicular traffic due to structural deficiencies that make the weight of a vehicle unsafe to cross over the bridge.

Potential Closures due to Storm Damage

After wind and/or rain storms, many roads to and from and within Point Reyes National Seashore may be blocked due to flooding, mud slides, downed trees, and/or power lines.
