A Trail for Hiking and Biking

The McDade Recreational Trail extends most the length of the park, from Hialeah Recreation Area to Milford Beach.Views of the river, streams, open farm fields, forests, and historic landscapes offer hikers, bikers, and cross-country skiers amazing views along trail sections of varied difficulty. Trailheads are distributed anywhere from ½ a mile and 5 miles apart, this trail offers a length for just about any visitor.

Regulations:

  • Speed limit is 15 mph.
  • Bikers yield to hikers.
  • No motorized vehicles.
  • Leashed pets are permitted along the trail except at Milford and Smithfield beaches and between Smithfield Beach and Hialeah, from late spring to early fall.
  • Camping only permitted at the Dingmans Campground.
  • The section between Pittman Orchard trailhead and Conashaugh trailhead is closed due to eagle nesting from December 15 through July 15.
  • Dispersed camping is not permitted along the McDade Recreational Trail. Dispersed camping is only permitted when on a multi-day thru hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.
