- Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units – Partnerships with over 400 universities and other institutions that connect scientists with parks, including funding.
- Inventory & Monitoring Networks –National Park Service scientists inventory and monitor natural resources in over 280 parks, with publicly-available protocols and datasets.
- Integrated Resource Management Application (IRMA) – Provides easy access to datasets, reports, protocols, and other tools useful to scientists.
- Research Learning Centers – Select centers in parks that help you plan, conduct, and communicate your research to managers and park visitors.
- Research Permit and Reporting System – Information about how and why to get a permit to conduct research in a park.
- Technical Information Center – Provides easy access to technical and historical information on buildings, structures, and facilities.
How to Get Involved
- Citizen Science – Citizen scientists work alongside researchers to collect data and find answers to real-world questions.
- Historically Black Colleges & Universities Internship Program – Designed to motivate program participants to get involved in protecting the natural and cultural resources in their communities and beyond.
- Latino Heritage Internship Program – Partnership with the Environment for the Americas to provide internship opportunities for young adults, with an emphasis on Latinos, in a variety of career fields.
- Mosaics in Science – Provides youth that are under-represented in natural resource science career fields with on-the-ground, science-based, work experience with the National Park Service.
- Scientists in Parks – Providing all aspiring professionals with a unique opportunity to work on science projects in national parks.
