On June 10, Zion National Park will begin a weekly volunteer program for the public. This program provides visitors and local residents with the opportunity to complete projects that improve the park's appearance, enhance visitor experiences, and contribute to resource management efforts. Volunteerism is a wonderful way to help preserve Zion National Park while sharing an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Drop-in volunteer opportunities will be offered every Friday through November. Anyone interested in participating should meet at 9:00 a.m. at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center Shuttle Stop. Participants should bring water, sunscreen, sturdy walking shoes, and a hat. Gloves and tools will be supplied. Projects will last two to three hours and require no prior knowledge or training. Possible projects include litter removal, minor trail maintenance, and the management of invasive plants.
Groups larger than 10 people must pre-register to participate. No prior registration is required for individuals. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact the park's volunteer coordinator at 435-772-0184 to pre-register a group or to learn more about this program and other volunteer opportunities in the park.
