Recycling Volunteer Opportunity

Zion National Park is recruiting 1-2 volunteers to assist with the parkwide recycling program. Park activities, including Zion Lodge as a cooperating partner, generate a large volume of recyclable material on a daily basis. Incumbent duties would take place at the Birch Creek Recycling Center and include: sorting glass, plastics and tin into appropriate holding containers and fold, load and bale cardboard using a mechanical compactor. In addition, assist with loading and emptying biodegradable material from two large Earth Tub compost containers.

Physical/environmental demands include working outside in extreme weather conditions (100+ degrees), stooping, and some lifting (must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.) Protective equipment (goggles and gloves) will be provided.

Please contact Volunteer Coordinator at 435-772-0184 if interested.
