Library Volunteer Wanted
Zion National Park is seeking a motivated individual with strong organizational skills to assist with the operation of the park library.
The Volunteer's main responsibility will be to keep the library neat, orderly and up-to-date. This includes: checking in and shelving books, performing minor repair to books, organizing vertical files, and culling outdated items.
- Other responsibilities include cataloging new books, transferring VHS videos to DVD format, and informing the library manager of any issues needing attention.
- Volunteer will also assist with annual inventory, weeding, and other special projects.
Volunteers must have knowledge of or interest in library cataloging and Library of Congress classification. Previous library experience or training is desired, but not required.
Volunteers must be willing to commit to a consistent schedule (approximately two hours each week). No park housing is available for this position.
- Volunteer will be required to wear a volunteer uniform.
- This work is indoors at the park's headquarters. The work involves periods of time filing, standing, walking, bending and lifting.
