Every year, park rangers and search and rescue (SAR) personnel respond to approximately 250 emergency incidents in Zion National Park. In an effort to prevent these emergencies, the park will post certain incidents on this blog with the hope that everyone can learn from these experiences.

Out of Water on the East Rim Trail

The group reported that they were out of water and afraid that they would not be able to make it back to the trailhead. The group was calling from Stave Spring (which was dry at the time).

If you have questions, please email zion_park_information@nps.gov. Listen to recorded information by calling anytime 24 hours a day. Rangers answer phone calls from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. MT, but a ranger may not answer if they are already speaking with someone else.
