Did you know Yellowstone has its own wildlife health laboratory to perform disease testing? In addition to maintaining an archive of samples for the various research projects in the park, employees like Jessica will test up to 1,000 samples collected in the field each year.

"Much of the benefit of having our own lab is savings: in both time and money. Instead of packaging up samples, shipping them to a facility, and waiting weeks to months for results, we can turn around results within a few days." - Laboratory Manager Jess Richards
