On Saturday September 5th Women’s Rights National Historical Park will host “Women in World War II,” a special lecture and exhibit opening beginning at 1:00 pm in the park’s visitor center at 136 Fall Street, Seneca Falls, NY.
At 1:00 pm Dr. Susan Lewis will present her lecture “ILU: I Love You”, the story and love letters of two teenagers from the Bronx separated by war. Dr. Lewis is the Associate Professor, Deputy Chair, and Graduate Advisor, of the Department of History at SUNY New Paltz. The lecture will take place in the park’s Guntzel Theater.
After the lecture we invite you to attend the opening of a new exhibit “Remember to be a Lady, Forget you are a woman” – The WAVES of World War II. This exhibit looks at the women who played a major role in the United States Navy during WWII and how their place in history changed the future of women in the military. This exhibit will be on display Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the park visitor center through the month of December.
The special lecture and exhibit are free and open to the public.
