Fishery Research - Procedure
After the three passes are completed, measuring can begin. The last pass is done first. Sometimes carbon dioxide is added to pacify the fish. This enables easier handling and more accurate measurements.
Fish length is taken from tip of head to tip of caudal fin.
Fish are then weighed (white box in left on the left) and returned to the creek. Nets are taken down and the stream section is recorded with a GPS for future reference.
