Meet Narcissa Whitman

Storyteller, musician and historian Karen Haas is listed as a speaker with Humanities Washington. She presents on many topics related to Pacific Northwest history. She feels especially rewarded when telling the stories of those whose voices are “usually silent in history – the women.” Ms. Haas made her debut appearance as “Narcissa Whitman” at the park in 2007.

Narcissa is returning to Whitman Mission and she is bringing a friend. On Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28, Karen and Patrick Haas will be portraying Narcissa Whitman and Francois Presse, a voyageur. They’ll be on the park grounds between 1:00 and 4:00 each day. In addition, “Narcissa” will give a talk about her life and experiences at 2:00 pm each day in the Tipi Grove.
