Whiskeytown Announces the Temporary Closure of Peltier Valley Road and Peltier Bridge Campground
Peltier Valley Road and Peltier Bridge Campground will be closed Thursday, August 10th through Friday, August 11th, 2017 and on Tuesday, August 14th and Wednesday, August15th. The road will be closed between Paige Bar Road (across from the Mt. Shasta Mine Loop parking lot) to the west side of the Campground. Peltier Bridge Campground will be open for camping on Saturday, August 12th. The Bureau of Reclamation staff and contractors will be trucking gravel and equipment to select sites along Clear Creek to inject spawning gravel to improve anadromous fish habitat.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but this road closure is necessary to provide for the safe operation of large trucks and heavy equipment in this area. Both the campground and the road will be back open on Wednesday, August 16th, at the very latest.
The Lower Clear Creek Floodplain Rehabilitation is part of a comprehensive, multi-phased ecosystem project that was designed to improve habitat conditions for anadromous salmonid species, including Central Valley fall-run Chinook salmon, Central Valley spring-run Chinook salmon and Central Valley steelhead.
