A new trail bridge is nearly completed on the trail to Brandy Creek Falls. The new bridge allows for safe travel through an area that has always been difficult to cross - especially during the wet season. Not only will this make it easier for trail users, it will also help prevent some of the erosion caused by walking and riding through the water and wet areas.

Projects like this one, along with day-to-day operations, need suport from multiple sources at Whiskeytown. Funding for this project comes directly from the sale of park entrance passes at Whiskeytown and is being done by a combination of permanent and seasonal park staff.

Many of our most talented and dedicated employees are part time and/or seasonal. One of those seasonal workers is Tim Bergman. “Tim has done great work for public safety,” stated Superintendent Jim Milestone. Tim is a master welder, trailbuilder and all around worker and did most of the welding on the safety railings at Whiskeytown Falls. He is still hard at work today, on his last day of work for the season, finishing up the welding on this bridge.

Whiskeytown has plans to build at least one more bridge over the next few months where the old “A-Frame Dam” across Brandy Creek used to be. This will be done, thanks to a $2,500 donation for materials to the Friends of Whiskeytown by the group sponsoring the annual Lemurian Shasta Classic Mountain Bike Race each spring. All work is scheduled to be completed before Whiskeytown’s celebration of “Waterfall Week” April 29 – May 5th.
