Teacher's Workshop Date Has Changed
The date for the 4th annual teacher's workshop, A Window on our World: Bringing Cheyenne and Arapaho Perspectives into the Classroom has been changed from Saturday, June 30, 2012 to Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 8:45 am until 4:00 pm.
Chief of Interpretation Frank Torres said, "For the past four years, this workshop has been an example of the important relationship and partnership between the park and the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. Recently, we learned that the dates for the most important event in the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribal year, the Sun Dance, had been set by the Council of Chiefs for June 28 - July 1. Therefore, out of respect for our park partner and to honor the tradition that the Sun Dance embodies, together we decided to change the date for this year's workshop".
The focus of the workshop is to introduce teachers to the National Park Service and Washita Battlefield National Historic Site, as well as to Cheyenne and Arapaho tribal histories, cultures, traditions, and languages.
