Join Interpretive Ranger Gary Castellino on Saturday evening October 5, 2013, when Vicksburg National Military Park, in conjunction with the Vicksburg Downtown Fall Festival, will present a talk entitled Whatever Happened to Pemberton? examining the fortunes of John C. Pemberton after the Siege of Vicksburg. The program will take place at 6:00 pm at Pemberton's Headquarters located at 1018 Crawford Street, 1 block south of Clay Street, in downtown Vicksburg. There is no fee for the program but seating is limited and will be on a first come, first served basis. Following the talk, a tour highlighting a brief history of Pemberton's Headquarters will be available, discussing events that took place at the site before and during the Siege of Vicksburg. Visitors should allow approximately 1 hour and forty-five minutes for the talk and tour. Comfort facilities are available onsite. Light refreshments will be served. This program is part of Vicksburg National Military Park's Sesquicentennial outreach effort, 'Along the Campaign Trail,' which includes presentations conducted by a dedicated team of interpreters during a year-long effort to bring the story of the Campaign and Siege of Vicksburg not only to park visitors, but to schools, libraries, museums, and civic organizations throughout the region. Vicksburg National Military Park is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily and information regarding entrance fees or programs can be found on the park's website at www.nps.gov/vick or calling 601-636-0583. |
