NPS Images We have a variety of opportunities available. We like to match volunteers' skills with our needs. Volunteers greet visitors, provide tours, assist with grounds care, and much more! The park has four RV/camper spaces and possible park housing for volunteers. If you stay in the park, you must work a minimum of 32 hours a week. Benefits include access to 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electrical service, water, on-site laundry, a conveniently located wastewater dump, on-site trash removal, and an optional propane hookup. Well-behaved dogs and cats on a leash are also welcome. If you are interested, we can send you a VIP Handbook. The park is located next to the Windy Hill Recreation Area boat launch on Theodore Roosevelt Lake, so bring your boat. If you like to explore, we are two hours from the Phoenix metropolitan area, one hour from Payson, San Carlos, and Superior, and three hours from Tucson. The nearest town is Tonto Basin. It is twenty miles from the park. Ten miles east and five miles west is Roosevelt. Globe, Miami, and Claypool are thirty-four miles from the park. Globe and Payson have the most modern conveniences. Tonto Basin and Roosevelt are nestled beside Tonto National Forest and Roosevelt Lake. Both communities offer spectacular landscape views, rich history, and a tight-knit community ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. If you are interested in volunteering, call 928-467-2241, extension 400.
