Safety

Theodore Roosevelt, snowshoeing in 1878.
Even adventurous types like Theodore Roosevelt exercised safety. In this photo, taken in 1878 at Island Falls in Aroostook County, Maine, Theodore wears snowshoes while hunting.

Even though Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace is a brownstone townhouse, there are ways to make your visit safer. Please observe the same safety measures that you would in your own home. Always hold onto the railings when climbing up and down the stairs. Also, please be careful not to trip on furniture or bump into artifacts when walking through the period rooms.
