OPERATIONS UPDATE: Beginning Sunday, October 31st, 2021, visitor services will operate out of the Bishop Reverdy C. Ransom Memorial Library on the Payne Theological Seminary campus. This is due to the long-term renovation of the Young house. House tours will end on Saturday, October 30th, 2021. Read the recent News Release for additional details on the renovovation and park operations.

Guided tours of the Colonel Charles Young home, also known as Youngsholm, are available when the house is open. Tours are generally available daily at 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.  

Those interested in touring the home please contact us via email or by calling the park at 937-352-6757 to schedule your tour.

We recommend all visitors browse through the reopening guidelines before submitting a tour request. Details

Guests who are able to visit the house can view the park introduction film and then can participate in a guided ranger tour of the home's exhibits throughout the first and second floors.

Guided house tours are available, but should be requested/scheduled ahead of time. Please Contact Us and send us an email with your date and time request and it will be forwarded to staff.  House tours are generally available daily at 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, and 4 pm.

Only assistive and/or service animals are allowed inside of the house.

The park is located a few miles west of Central State and Wilberforce Universities on U.S. Route 42 East.

Accessibility Information

The house currently does not have an elevator inside of the home to access the 2nd floor. Access to the 2nd floor is only via a staircase. A wheelchair-friendly access ramp is available from the front side of the house (southeast side) to access the front door of the home.
