Background

Being Processed is a high school level self-guided activity that allows students to understand through the experiences of Italian-born immigrant Rosaria Esposito's procession through Ellis Island. Students will learn about the reasons Esposito immigrants was seeking citizenship in the United States just prior to World War I and participate in role playing and decision making for her next steps. Finally, students will tlearn about arriving with diseases and being detained for observationa and recovery.
