The National Park Service’s (NPS) theme for December is “Appreciating our Partners”. With hundreds of partners participating in the National Natural Landmarks (NNL) Program all across the country, the NPS has much to be grateful for. This web page is to say THANK YOU and to honor landmark owners and managers working tirelessly to conserve America’s natural heritage!
With nearly 600 designated sites, and landownership that spans the entire spectrum from private individuals and organizations to tribal, city, county, state and federal lands, this network of sites represents the diversity of America’s resources and the land stewards that care for them.
The NPS works alongside NNL landowners and managers to bring recognition, encourage and support the conservation of these nationally significant sites; however, protection of landmark sites remains in the hands of its owners and managers. It is through their commitment and dedicated efforts that these sites are conserved.
There are many important activities and projects occurring at landmarks across the country and there are many stories to tell. Scroll through the stories below to get a glimpse of some of the great work being done.
