How would you like to spend a Saturday morning helping preserve part of our nation’s history while getting a free lunch and a t-shirt? Stones River National Battlefield calls upon our friends and neighbors to join us and our partners at Picnic Pavilion #2 in Old Fort Park onSaturday April 11, 2015 as we work to remove trash and invasive exotic plants from Fortress Rosecrans, Old Fort Park and the Lytle Creek Greenway.

We plan on this event turning into our biggest Park Day ever! Not only will we be continuing our tradition of teaming up with the Civil War Trust, History™, , Take Pride in America and volunteers across the nation working to preserve one of our nation's most important Civil War sites; we will also be working with employees and volunteers from eleven local partners to create a community wide event that will kick off our celebration of the National Park Service Centennial.

Sign-up today by contacting Jim Lewis at 615-893-9501 or e-mail us. The Friends of Stones River National Battlefield and Walmart will provide lunch for all volunteers, and the first 200 registrants will receive a commemorative t-shirt courtesy of the Civil War Trust.

Following lunch, participants are invited to join a park ranger for a special walking tour of Fortress Rosecrans.
