Scranton, Pa - Steamtown National Historic Site, in partnership with the Lackawanna Historical Society, will premiere the documentary film "Rocky Glen Park" by local historian Robert Savakinus. The film will be shown at the site’s 250-seat surround-sound theater on Saturday, August 15 at 2:00 p.m. and again during the Park’s "Railfest" special event on Sunday, September 6 at 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, August 15, a celebratory reception will follow the film's premiere at the Lackawanna County Electric City Trolley Museum, located on the Steamtown NHS grounds. The film premiere will take place during the Park’s final "2009 Fee Free" weekend, August 15 and 16, and both the film and reception are open to the public at no charge.

The documentary includes video footage of the former Rocky Glen amusement park, Moosic, Pennsylvania, from the 1930s through the 1970s including rare scenes of the Million Dollar Coaster and the duck boat ride. The film features more than twenty interviews with persons connected to the amusement park including descendants, former owners and employees, and park visitors. It was produced by Robert Savakinus, Shannon Keith, and Mark Migliore with funding provided by the Lackawanna County Council on the Arts.
